Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 286 Calves at their Annual Show and Sale in Ayr. The Pre Sale Show was Judged by Miss Sophie Watt, Cairntack and Sponsored by Genus.

 

Overall Calves were 14kg Heavier on the year and were up £25.26 Per Head.

 

Champion Animal in the Yard was a Very Correct Limousin Cross Bullock shown by the Young Brothers from Tormitchell  scaling 380kg and Selling for £1650 (434.2p).

 

The Reserve was a Limousin Cross Heifer from the same home and Weighed 320kg and sold for £1350 (421.8p).

A Good Strong Show of 600 Blackface Ewe Lambs with all Sizes well bid for, the whole sale Averaged £71.58 (-£5.33 for 224 more sold). Top Price was £130 for a Superb pen off Messrs J & W Kay, Sclenteuch (Straiton) and being bought by Miss Michell Wright, Ballymena, County Antrim.

 

A Good Show of 701 Mule Gimmers with most lots a Joy to sell with the Whole Sale Averaging £122.66 (+£12.41 on the year) Top Price Gimmers were £142 for a Cracking pen off W D Hyslop & Sons, Gowlands (Barrhill).

Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd Sold 2548Sheep at their First Sale of Store Lambs, Mule Gimmers and Mule Ewe Lambs. The Sale was Kindly Sponsored by Carrs Billington, the Show was Ably Judged by Mr John Linton, Sornfallow Farm (Biggar) who Awarded the Champion Pen of Mule Ewe Gimmers to Messrs G S Wilson, Glenhead Farm (Girvan) which realised £142 Per Head and was Bought by Messrs W H M & W Sloan, Mull of Galloway Farm. The Reserve pen was Awarded to Messrs J Paterson, East Dykes Farm which realised £162 and was bought by Messrs James McHarrie, Duchra Farm.

 

The 717 Mule Gimmers Averaged £124 (-£6 on the Year) with Good Long Light Skinned Gimmers Proved Very Easy Cashed however plainer types hard to shift.

 

Texel Cross Gimmers Peaked at £136 for a pen off Messrs A & J Wright, Pinmore Mains.

 

The Champion pen of Mule Ewe Lambs was Awarded to Messrs M & F Burns, Glenside Farm (Kirkmichael) which realised £130 Per Head being bought by the Judge Mr John Linton, Sornfallow. The Reserve pen was Awarded to Messrs Fleming, Shawhead Farm and went to Make £118 to Ardoch & Threepland Farms.

 

The 751 Mule Ewe Lambs forward Averaged £93 (-£7 on the year).
