Mule Ewes sold to £104 from J Hodge, Dykes, Auchinleck. Cheviot Ewes sold to £110 for a pen from N McDonald, West Blackbyres, with Blackface Ewes to £78.50 for a pen from J Caldwell, Moorfield.

Messrs Craig Wilson Limited sold 2096 Prime and Cast Sheep at their Sale in Ayr.

1464 Prime Hoggets met the dearest trade of the Season so far with the whole sale averaging £101.02 or 226.1 pence per kilo for a heavy show (SQQ 235.8 pence per kilo).  Topping at £128 for Texels off Knockgerran or 257.5 pence per kilo for Beltex off Lyonston.

405 Blackface Hoggets averaged 43 kilo or 220 pence per kilo (£94.00).  Selling to a top of £116 for a pen off Craig, Straiton or 232 pence per kilo for the same pen.

Cast Ewes would also be sharper on the week with less quality types forward.

Messrs Craig Wilson Limited sold 1444 Sheep, comprising 1217 Prime Hoggets and 227 Cast Sheep.  With numbers well short of buyer’s requirements, all classes were a flying trade, and many more could have been sold to advantage.

Top price per head and per kilo was £107 or 254.8 pence per kilo for a superb pair of Beltex from Messrs W & A Watson, Muir Farm selling to JN Nisbet, Quality Butchers, Sorn Mains.

Mule Hoggets sold to £97 for a pen of 33 off Garpel Farms or 204.6 pence per kilo off Messrs J Gatherer, Hill Of Ochiltree.  

Blackface Hoggets topped at £91 off James Murdoch & Son, Knockdon or 212.9 pence per kilo for a pen off A & CB Miller, Baidlandhill. 

The 224 Blackface Hoggets averaged 207.8 pence per kilo with the whole sale averaging 211.9 pence per kilo  or 218.9 SQQ.

Lambs again alot dearer on the week with many pens selling over £2 per kilo.  The Whole Sale averaged 181.4 pence per kilo or 189.1 pence per kilo SQQ for a very fat and heavy show of Lambs with the average weight being 46.2 kilos. 

Top price per head was £95 on three separate occasions, firstly for a Dutch Texel off John Young & Son, Castlemains, then a Texel off J Dunn & Co., Martnaham Mains and finally for a Beltex off Messrs J Cousar, Howcommon.

A much bigger show of Lambs forward with powerful sheep still well bid for.  Top Prime Lamb of the day was £107 for a superb Texel off Miss Eve Currie, Fisherton and topping per kilo was 204.7 pence for a very smart Texel off Messrs S & L Dunlop, Bennan (Straiton).

The whole sale averaged 185.7 pence per kilo or 186.9 SQQ.

Messrs Craig Wilson Limited sold 1652 Sheep, comprising 1357 Prime Lambs and 295 Cast Sheep.

Lambs with power still very easily sold, however, handy weights would be less on the week.  Top prices of the day was £109 for a fantastic Suffolk off Messrs W & R Baird, Dalhowan Farm (Crosshill)or 230 pence per kilo for a smart pair of Texels off Messrs R McMillan, Lawhill Farm. 

The whole sale averaged 207.9 pence per kilo.  SQQ average 210.1 pence per kilo.

Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 1490 Sheep comprising 1268 Prime Lambs and 222 Cast Ewes and Tups. Today was our Annual Show and Sale of Prime Texel Lambs held in Conjunction with the Scottish Texel Sheep Breeders Club and was Kindly Sponsored by Macmin. Our Judge Today was Mr James Nisbet (Snr) Sorn Mains (Butchers) who awarded the Champion to Messrs J & R Semple, Netherton (Dalrymple) who also won the Suffolk Show Last Week. The Champion Lambs Scaled at 44kg and fetched for £128 or 290.9p being bought by the Judge Mr J Nisbet.

 

The Reserve Champion was Awarded to Messrs L & B Kirk, Waterside Farm, for a Cracking Pen of 41kg Lambs that fetched for £98 or 236.6p being Bought by Mr James Stark, Bluebell, Milton of Campsie. The 75 Prime Texel Show Lambs forward Averaged 221.7p or £93.28.

Messrs Craig Wilson ltd Sold 917 Sheep Comprising of 677 Spring Lambs and 240 Cast Sheep. Today was our Annual Show and Sale of Prime Suffolk Lambs held in Conjunction with The West and Central Scotland Suffolk Sheep Club and was Kindly Sponsored by Shearwell and McCaskie Farm Supplies. Our Judge Today was Mr J McFadzean, Dalduff Farm (Crosshill) who Awarded the Champion to a Regular Consigner of Quality Lambs Messrs J & K Semple, Netherton Farm (Dalrymple)  for a pen of Beautiful 48kg Which realised £117 Per Head or 243.8p, being Bought by the Judge Mr J McFadzean.

The Reserve Champion was Awarded to Mr A Currie, Fisherton for a Smart pen of Weight Lambs that Fetched for £95 or 231.7p and bought by Mr A Argo. The 48 Prime Suffolk’s Show Lambs forward Averaged 218.3p.
