All classes of Hoggs rose again on the week to average 231.3p k/g for 1039.  Heavy weight Beltex from J L McMillan, Carse O’Clary topped the sale at £122.  Smart export sheep topped per kilo at 254.8p k/g for Texels from High Mark Ltd.  384 Blackface Hoggs averaged 227.58p k/g selling to £108 twice once from D Ferguson, Markdhu and then from A & F Baillie, Low Glasnick.  The same vendor also topped the Blackfaces per kilo at 239.2p k/g.  All classes of Ewes also seen a rise topping at £167 for a pen of Texels from Mr Q Milroy, Kirranrae.  Mule Ewes sold to £108.50 from Harvey Sloan, Mull of Galloway.  Beltex Tups from Carse O’Clary topped the tups at £140.  £78 was the top of the Blackfaces from D & W Bowman, Bagbie.

Top pence per kilo was a pen of Tremendous Beltex from A Wright, Pinmore Mains selling at 229.3p k/g.  A cracking show of blackface wedder hoggs averaged 218.2p k/g or £92.67 for 309 sold.  Top price per head of £104 was achieved for a pen of beauties from J Mitchell & Son, Little Larg with Garheugh Farm Partnership topping per kilo at 221.9p k/g.  Topping the Ewes was a pen of Texels from G Milroy, Mains of Machermore selling at £148.  Blackface Ewes sold to £76 for a pen off R & CM Donnan, Knockiebae with mules selling to £91.50 from R McShane, Smallmuir.  Tups sold to £105 for a Lleyn, from S Galloway, Barvernochan.

1334 Prime and Cast Sheep sold at Newton Stewart today.  The 1143 Prime Hoggs were very easily sold averaging 208.8p k/g.  All classes were in high demand selling to £105 for heavy weights firstly for Texels from A & J Wright, Pinmore Mains then for Suffolks from J & D Morrison, Culmalzie.  Top price per kilo of 235 pence was achieved for a pen of Beltex from S MacTier, Boghouse. A good show of 348 Blackface Hoggs sold to average 207.8p k/g or £79.37 selling to £90 for a pen from A & F Baillie, Low Glasnick and to 229.2p k/g for a pen of 36 from Larg Farming Co, Creetown.  Ewes would be slightly less values selling of £118 for Suffolks from B Vance, Mid Skeog with Tups selling to £101 for Texels from E Scott, Mains of Park.  Mules sold to £99 from Mrs M Hannanh, Little Pinminnoch.  J McQuiston & son topped the Blackfaces selling a pen of 30 for £75.50

1154 Lambs saw a large rise in trade averaging 196.1p k/g (+10.6p on the week).  All classes sold much dearer on the week selling to a top of £100 for heavyweight Texels from Mrs C McMillan, Garheugh with Lightweights selling to 236.8p k/g  for Beltex’s from Messrs Milroy, Mains of Machermore,   All classes of Ewes also seen an increase selling to £98 for Suffolk Tups from Mr P Murray, High Ersock with mules to £80 from Low Drumrae Farming Co.  Top in the Blackfaces was £75 from Mr W Laurie, Holm of Bargrennan.

All classes of lambs were much dearer on the week with 1429 lambs sold averaging 193.4p k/g or £86.27.  Top price per kilo of 3100 was achieved for heavyweight Texels from James McFarlane, Daldowie,  Top price per kilo of 220.2p k/g was achieved for a pen of tremendous lightweight Beltex’s from R Templeton, Carslae,  All classes of ewes also seen a rise on the week selling to £117 for Texel Crosses from John Howie, Auchentibbert with tups to £82 for a Bluefaced Leicester from J Douglas, Barlaughlan with top in the Mules being £73.50 for a pen of 19 from J Drennan, Balgracie.  P Murray, High Ersock topped the Blackfaces with a pen of 23 making £66.50

973 Prime Lambs were a mixed show for Quality with all sorts cashed and sold to average 182.5p. Walter Kerr, High Borland Topped the sale per head with heavy weight Beltex making £95. Top Price Per Kilo was also achieved for Beltex from I McKnight, Dalhabboch making 212.8p. all classes of Cast Sheep were easier sold on the week topping at £134 for a Cracking pair of Dutch Texel’s from H & W McKie, High Threave with BFL’s Topping the Tups at £85 from A McQuiston, Barnshangan who also topped the Mules at £69, Blackfaces sold to £60 from A Brown, Balligmorrie.

1501 Prime Lambs seen a rise of 12.4p on the week to average 183p k/g or £83.04 per head.  All classes of lamb seen a rise in price on the week.  Top price per head today of £95 was realised for a heavyweight Texel from Mr David Cannon, Barfad.  217.1p k/g was the top price per kilo for a pair of Beltex’s from Mr R Templeton, Carslae.  A better show of Ewes for quality sold similarly on the week to a top price of £120 for a Charolais Cross from Carslae.  Zwartbles topped the tups at £75 for a pair from Mr J McCulloch, Dunkeld, with Blackfaces to £53 from W & W Stewart, Knockcoyd and Mules to £63 from A & E Paton & Son, Millenderdale and Carslae.

686 Prime Lambs sold were a mixed show for quality with an average weight of 46.7kg selling to an average of 156p k/g or 164.5p k/g.  SSQ leading todays trade at £81 was a cracking Texel from Mrs H Mullan, Barbae then for Texels from Mr W McHarrie, Duchra.  Top price per kilo of 171.3p k/g was paid on two occasions, firstly for a pen of 38 cracking Charolais from Messrs J Howatson, Risk then for a pen of Texels from AK Brooke, Carsecreugh.  Over fat ewes harder to cash whilst all other classes remained similar to last week selling to £79 for Texel Crosses from Messrs Jones, Baing.  Tups sold to £68 for Bluefaced Leicesters from O Murray, High Ersock and Mules sold to £54 from A Heath Glenmallick Cottage.  Drannandow Farms topped the Blackfaces with a pen selling at £46.50.

Lambs sold to a Top of £80 on four occasions, from JT & SA Cannon, Redbrae and R McShane, Smallmuir for Suffolk’s then for Texel’s from W & S Kerr, High Boreland and Straid Farms Ltd. Top Price Per Kilo was a pair of Beltex Lambs from Tormitchell Farms selling at 185p. Lean Meat Ewes would be dearer on the week whilst over fat types would be similar to last week.  Selling to £106.50 for Texel’s from J Douglas, Mains of Airies. Again a good show for quality proved easy to cash.  Leaner types would see no increase on the week.  Top price per head of £87 was achieved for a pen of Texels from Baltier Farming Co.  Beltex’s topped per  kilo selling to 184.5p for two pairs from JL McMillan, Carse O’Clary.  Top quality well bred cast sheep would be up on the week whereas all other types would be similar on the week.  Baltier topped the ewes selling Texel’s to £134 whilst mules sold to £61.50 from JT & SA Cannon, Redbrae.  Blackfaces sold to £41.50 from Robinson- Wyllie Ltd, Culbae and Tups to £60 for Texdels from A & E Paton & Son, Millenderdale.

1647 Prime and Cast Sheep Sold at Newton Stewart.  1181 Lambs sold slightly less on the week with weathered and less fleshed types taking the biggest hit.  The whole sale averaged 169.9p k/g.  Top price today was £90 for a cracking pen of Beltex’s from Mr A McCaig, Mount Pleasant.  The same home topped pence per kilo at 188.9pk/g.  All classes of Ewes sold to a similar trade on the week selling to £124 for Texels from Mr G Hurcomb, Garthlearie House.  Grant also topped the tups at £900 for a Texel.  Blackfaces sold to £59.50 from Messrs Brooke, Carscreugh.

2380 Prime and Cast Sheep sold at Newton Stewart.  A much larger show of prime lambs sold dearer on the week to average 173.6p k/g (+2.9p on the week).  All classes of lambs seen an increase on the week selling to £90.50 for a cracking pen of Texels from JG McMillan, & Co, Over Aries and to 185.1p k/g for a pen of beauties from S Hannah, Clearview.  Cast Sheep also increased in numbers and price topping at £114 for Suffolks from PA Murray, High Ersock.  J Cannon, Redbrae sold a pen of Tremendous Mules at £74.50 and tups sold to £85 for Texels from J & W Wallace, Barnsladie.  A pen of fantastic Blackfaces from A Paton  & Co, Craig topped the Blackfaces at £57.50.

984 Prime and Cast Sheep Sold.  The 785 Prime Lambs followed the national trend of falling on the week to average 176.7p k/g.  The sale topped at £90 on three occasions.  Firstly for LLeyns from PA Murray, High Ersock, the for Texels from WA Galloway & Son, Culnoag and finally for Suffolks from J Cannon,  Clauchrie.  Top per kilo at 189p k/g was a pen of cracking Beltex from Q Milroy, Kirranrae.  Ewes continued to be easily cashed selling to £123 & £113 from Hurcombe, Garthlearie House.  Grant also topped the mules selling to £83 whilst Blackfaces sold to £66 from Clauchrie.

799 Prime and Cast Sheep Sold today at Newton Stewart. 641 Prime Lambs averaged 184.5p k/g or £78.97 down 2.3p on the week.  Heavy well fleshed lambs still best to sell peaking at £100 firstly for LLeyns from P Murray, High Ersock then for Texels from A Brown, Balligmorrie.  Top pence per kilo was for the same pen from Balligmorrie selling at 196.1p k/g.  Ewes continued to be easily cashed selling to £100 for a Texel from the Hair Family, Drumbreddan.  Tups sold to £96 for Texel & Suffolks from Messrs Jackson, Annefield.  Mule Ewes sold to £76 from Boreland Farms with Blackfaces topping at £65.50 again from Drumbreddan.

Lambs proved scarce on the ground due to many Farmers Taking Advantage of the Good Weather for Silage. Lambs sold to £110 for a Very Blocky Suffolk Cross Lamb off Messrs A Wallace, Claycrop or 222.9p for a Single Beltex off Boreland Farms. The Whole Sale Averaged 211p or 213.6p SQQ. Many more Lambs Required on a weekly basis to fulfil buyers orders.

476 Prime and Cast Sheep Sold today at Newton Stewart.  373 New Season Lambs sold dearer on the week to average 210.5p k/g or £90.96.  Topping the sale today was a cracking Suffolk Lamb from A & T Wilson, Baryerrock selling at £107.  Top pence per kilo was a cracking pen of Beltex consigned by R Templeton, Carslae selling for 224.4p k/g.  A small show of Ewes would be similar to sell to last week selling to £78 for  Zwartble Ewes from  G McCornick, Stewarton.  Tups sold to £73.50 for a pen of LLeyns from T McGarva, Barwhanny.  Top mules was £66 from Carsale with Blackfaces selling to £58 from A & J Baillie, Challochglass and R McWhirter, Garvilland.

453 Lambs followed the national trend to average 204.3p k/g or £89.89.  Top price of £102 was achieved for a cracking Texel from Messrs Mullan, Barbae or to 216.3p k/g for another Texel from F Allison, Glenstables.  An end of season show of Hoggs sold to £77 for a Texel from Mrs M Hannah, Little Pinminnoch.  A small show of cast sheep kept up recent rates selling to £115 & £111 for Texels from G Campbell, Dinnans with mules selling to £77 from A McMillan, Blackpark.  Topping the tups was a pair of Suffolks selling at £90 from Messrs Wallace, Larroch and Blackface Ewes sold to £65 from Messrs Baillie, Low Glasnick.
