2304 Cattle Sold. The Better Weather conditions this past Spring and Summer was shown in the Spring and Autumn Calves this year with Cattle in Excellent Condition and Heavier.

 

The 2304 Head sold Averaged £791.51 (+ £32.91 on 2018 -12.2p). With more English Buyers forward it was the Huge Attendance of Farmers who attend this sale annually which made the trade a Testament to how the Cattle Purchased go on and do with them.

 

Heifers Peaked at £1280, £1240 and £1220 for Home Bred Limousin Crosses from Messrs G & J Hannah, Meoul, Stoneykirk, Stranraer.

 

Bullocks Peaked at £1140 for a Limousin Cross again shown by G & J Hannah, Meoul Farm,

 

Spring Born Bullock Calves sold to 280p for Limousin Crosses sold by S & J Cannon, Redbrae, Wigtown.

 

Spring Born Heifer Calves sold to 405p for a pen of 10 Saler Crosses from A Howatson, Risk Farm, Newton Stewart.

 

Outwith the Saler Calves Spring Born Heifer Calves sold to 304p for a pen Limousin from Messrs Costley, East Barr, Port William.

123 Rams and Females sold at Newton Stewart Annual Tup Fair. A good show for Quality Proved easy to cash. Topping today’s sale Once again was a Cracker of a Texel Shearling from J Clark, West Glengyre selling at £780 and Second Top Price was £720. Topping the Lambs today was a Monster of a Suffolk from Messrs J Cannon, Redbrae, selling at £600, Jim also sold the second Top Price Lamb at £550. Top Price Texel Lamb came from First Time Consigner D Hair, Drumbreddan which went for £480. First Time Consigner of Blue Texel Lambs Miss J Cannon, Redbrae sold them to £420. Suffolk Shearlings Topped at £520 Twice once from Master A Clark, Wesy Glengyre then from J Wallace, Claycrop. Beltex and Beltex Cross Shearlings were both Topped by JMcMillan, Carse O’Clary with his Pure’s selling to £460 and a Cross to £500. Blueface Leicsters Topped at £350 for a 2 Shear from Messrs Murray, High Ersock.

 

Females sold to £400 Firstly from the Regular Consignment from David and Ian Walker, Laigh Alticane for a Texel Gimmer another Texel Gimmer from F & R McTaggart, Cairnharrow. Beltex Ewe Lambs Topped at £120 Twice from Master R McKnight, Dalhabboch.

1025 Prime and Cast Sheep Sold.  849 Lambs sold to average 179.4p k/g or 181.4p k/g.  All classes of Lambs would be much easier sold on the week.  Topping per head was a pair of cracking Beltex Lambs from J McMillan, Carse O’ Clary at £100.  Top per kilo was 204.8p k/g for a pen of crackers from W Stevenson, Auchenflower.  Topping the Ewes today was W Lockhart, Culdoach selling Bluefaced Leicester for £80.  Top price Mules were £65 from Straid Farms Ltd, Blackfaces sold to £50 from Messrs Mitchell, Little Lard, Garheugh Farm Partnership and J Cannon, Clauchrie.
